This is the ship that my father was on. I spoke a few years ago with the head nurse of this last voyage from Manila to Sydney and a another soldier who was living in Montana. The 5,000 mile trip took almost a month. The ship was painted white with Red Crosses the day before its voyage by students. The fact that it was not bombed or torpedoed is a miracle.
